My autumn essentials

Happy autumn!

1. Alexa, play my Autumn playlist on Spotify.

2. Light a cozy candle. I've been loving this one.

& 3. Throw on a thick sweater (I insist on wearing them even if it's 70°). I've been living in this chunky Boden sweater since I got it.

4. I think everyone is wearing these Birkenstock Bostons. I've been wearing these since seventh grade (for sixteen years!) and I'm obsessed with the taupe colorway.

5. Now, let's talk movies. I like a little bit of everything-

Bookstores, love, and friendship in New York City. The epitome of autumn.
I always aspired to be Wednesday.
I'm already crying.
A virgin lit the black flame candle.
We'll be safe, we have the magic rocks.
- Harry Potter marathon
I don't know if I even need to say this, but it's a good time to watch or rewatch.

6. We're going to need a cup of tea. My tea of choice is Bird and Blend's Bonfire Toffee or David's Tea Saigon Chai. Everyone needs just one cute autumnal mug and this pumpkin-shaped option from Anthropologie is my go-to.

7. Baking is fun all year round, but for some reason, baking pumpkin bread in the chilly autumn is just better. I have made this pumpkin bread recipe by Brown Eyed Baker at least three times this autumn and I'm not done yet. Note that this recipe makes 24 servings or two loaf pans. I cut the recipe in half! I also love zucchini bread. This is my favorite recipe by I Heart Eating, which I carry from summer to fall.

8. I know I am not the only one whose skin suffers in the newly chill weather. I've been lathering my skin in the La Roche-Posay body lotion every morning and every evening. I honestly swear by it.

9. A cozy set of pajamas is a must, especially for the crisp autumn weather. I posted recently some of my favorite sets, but another great option that should have been included there: flannel. Some great choices - L.L. Bean Scotch Plaid Flannel Pajamas and Serena & Lily Dalton Flannel Pajamas.

10. Books! Reading is a hobby of mine no matter the season, but curling up to a good book with an autumnal ambiance is magic. When I want to read a good classic, I always grab The October Country: Stories by Ray Bradbury. This anthology is made up of spooky tales that I love to read repeatedly. My personal favorite from the collection is The Lake. A couple other classic Ray Bradbury books for autumn are Something Wicked This Way Comes and The Halloween Tree.

For the modern reader:
- Romance - How to Find Love in a Bookshop: A Novel by Veronica Henry
- Mystery - The Saturday Night Book Club by Craig Davidson
- Horror - A House with Good Bones by T. Kingfisher
